HAGolem is a play on
words. A Golem is a figure from Jewish folklore which is
a slave to his master. The word "Ha Golem" in
modern Hebrew means "The dummy" or "The idiot". I decided to
twist it to "H.A.Golem", which means
"Home Automation Golem". Since the focus of this site would be a
home automation project, I thought that this play of words would be
appropriate. "Smart Homes" as they are called aren't really
smart. They are just as stupid as they were before, except for
being heavily instrumented, so we - the masters are smarter. This
is akin to the Golem in Jewish folklore. The Golem was stupid,
and could only exist and act by act of his master.
This site is going to be work in progress for a long long time.
In reality, I don't expect anything siginifcant to show up in less than
a year (i.e. Q2 of 2011). So if you want to check in, don't check
in often.
